The most sought after Bentley of all Derby models. The first model VandenPlas was build for Malcolm Campbell and the body design of his car was repeted afterwards on only a handful Bentley's. Reputedly only 11 of such cars were made. This car is among the finest, ordered new by H.J. Dowler of Hampshire. In 1939 the car went back to the factory to be recommisioned and was sold to D.G. W. Somerville. Now with an overdrive engine of the MR series fitted, number J 2 BF replacing C 7 BJ. The overdrive driveline greatly improving the roadability of this car.
The car was rebuild by Fiennes Engineering and owned by Peter de Savary and B. Wiggins former chairman of the RREC.
